5Rhythms® in Cumbria - evenings and workshops through the year.

The 5Rhythms is a simple, powerful moving meditation that anyone – of any age, size, or physical ability – can practise. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. The only requirement is a body that is still breathing, a heart that is still beating, and mind that is still curious!
Just like light, sound or ocean waves, a dancing body when moving freely passes through five distinct rhythmic patterns. These patterns continuously repeat themselves in a wave of motion.
From "Maps to Ecstasy" by Gabrielle Roth

Some of us see the rhythms from a naïve perspective like playing outside in the sun or swimming in a warm sea. Some enjoy the physical element of dance, developing flexible limbs and strengthening hearts. Others take the rhythms on a spiritual level, viewing the five elements of the wave as a way to understand ourselves and our external reality. Sometimes it's all of these things and also a good opportunity to dance to wonderful music and share this with others.

We're really keen to encourage 5Rhythms® dancing, and especially amongst the mountains and lakes around us here. Our dancing flourishes within the majestic and inspiring world of the lakelands: a region we celebrate under the twin peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra, and we link to many other 5Rhythms dance groups in the UK and abroad.

We want to keep you informed about our taught open wave groups/workshops in Cumbria, connect you to other five rhythms groups and share this great gift: using our bodies, whatever their shape or ability, to express our feelings and simply dance our own unique dance!
