Venues, Accommodation and Visiting
Our venues vary, they include Threlkeld, Penrith, Mungrisdale, Thirlmere, Askham, in the Northern Lakes. Each listing will have the details. At some venues you are able by arrangement to stay overnight afterwards in the hall. A Friday evening dance is great to begin a weekend in the Lakes, or if you've travelled a distance. For further local information, including about the venue, where to stay etc, contact
Teachers & Organisers
Organisers are Robin Duckett (website management & booking queries) and Helen Davies (venues and local queries.) Other dancers contribute to general promotion.
Prices and Payments
Registration is essential to enable the sessions to work well and be enjoyable - it is not possible to turn up 'on the door.' The booking forms are below.
Under 18s' Discount: we have a 20% discount for all under 18's including the the season ticket. Apply code ' WDCU18 2022 ' if you are under 18, to get the discount when you register.
The payment options for evenings are:
♥ Pre-paid set (four evening sessions for £45) This voucher is available only at the start of a four-session season, and is the cheapest and best for regulars. You will automatically be registered for the four forthcoming season's sessions when you pay for the set.
♣ Single session pre-paid registration - £16.
We are now using Paypal in order to streamline payments management; payment is part of the payment process. If you do not have a paypal account don't worry, just follow the link anyway and 'checkout as guest' with your card details. Paypal then send the payments into our WDC Bank Account, so that we can simply pay teachers, venues and other costs.

bECOME THE dANCE
This weekend we will dance with the energies of nature and live music, at the moment when the sun shines at its zenith, when the creative drive of spring relaxes and we can appreciate simply being.
Being in the body, receiving it delicately, welcoming its change of energy, relaxing in sensitive movement, enjoying the warmth of the sun on the skin.
We will inhabit the space between the lyrical and the quiet, accompanied by moments of live music and fusion with the elements. We will let go of control over our own dance patterns to become the dance itself. We will celebrate the Solstice with a stone circle ritual in an ancient and powerful place.

Our main dance venue is the Embleton Hall, close by Braithwaite. For a chosen session we plan to spread our wings and dance in Castlerigg Stone Circle. Probably built around 3000 BC, the beginning of the later Neolithic Period, Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the earliest stone circles in Britain. It is important in terms of megalithic astronomy and geometry, as the construction contains significant astronomical alignments.
Although its origins are unknown it is believed that it was used for ceremonial or religious purposes. It is probably the most dramatic of the known Neolithic stone circles in Britain.
There are plenty ofpossibilities nearby for staying (see suggestions in the Details.)

Life is a process

HEARTBEAT 5 Rhythms Workshop
Deepening our dance practice through the Heartbeat maps, we will find the shapes of the essential feelings as they move through us in the moment, and transform leftover fragments of old emotion into aliveness.
If Flowing is full of love, then we love our bodies - their softness and strength and capacity to move
If Staccato is full of love then we can express ourselves and find connection
If Chaos is full of love then we can release everything that blocks it, and we can dance what we loved and lost
If Lyrical is full of love, we are moving in an energetic field of kindness, aliveness and warmth
If Stillness is full of love, we can breath that love in and out
As human beings, we are built to know what others are feeling - there is a part of the nervous system that does this, but we may have trained ourselves to shut it down. It is an instinctive animal part of us worthy of our curiosity and respect. In All is Full of Love, we will be seeking the conditions when we can act from instinct, inhabit intimacy and work directly from divine intelligence. We will practice the embodiment of the heart, valuing all the times when we can say yes to love.
Heartbeat Workshops
5Rhythms Heartbeat workshops explore the essential human emotions (Fear, Anger, Sadness, Joy, Compassion) through Gabrielle Roth's movement map, linking them to the core 5Rhythms (Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness) to understand how these energies move through us, offering a path to emotional resilience, presence, and deeper self-connection, often serving as prerequisites for 5Rhythms teacher training. Participants use mindful, non-judgmental movement to feel and transform these feelings, finding courage in fear, power in anger, release in sadness, expansiveness in joy, and wholeness in compassion, all within a supportive dance environment.
